This traditional 15th-century inn is situated by a village green within Dartmoor National Park. Flagstone floors, oak beams and a welcoming open fire set the scene at this free house popular with cyclists and walkers. Local cask ales, ciders and fine wines accompany the carefully sourced ingredients in a menu ranging from lunchtime light bites to hand-battered cod and chips; a local steak – rib-eye, sirloin or rump; with chocolate and ginger tart or an ice cream sundae to finish. The beer and cider festival takes place on the Summer Bank Holiday in late August.
