Quirky end-of-terrace pub with friendly staff

At a glance

Bar menu
Dog friendly
Free Wi-Fi

This distinctively shaped backstreet pub has built a reputation for its friendly service and inventive food, not to mention its rotating local ales and great choice of ciders. Expect beams, wood floors, an open fire and resident cats in the bar, where hand-pulled pints of Bath Ales or Exeter Avocet are in top condition. The short chalkboard menu changes every six weeks or so, and everything – including the bread – is prepared from scratch in the kitchen. Choose from the likes of celeriac and Bramley soup with Devon Blue; ham hock croquettes; or venison borscht with mash.
