Once virtually derelict, The Horse is an object lesson in pub revival, as its beautiful dining room, Mediterranean-style courtyard and stunning barn conversion testify. The chesterfield-furnished bar offers Devon-brewed real ales and ciders, and the same menu as the restaurant, which could mean antipasto to share; tapas choices; hand-rolled gourmet pizzas; or hand-made meatballs in rich tomato sauce, while the courtyard smokery is responsible for smoked pastrami, salmon and salt beef. Other choices might be moules frites; chicken Caesar salad; or chargrilled 21-day hung Dartmoor rib-eye. Local folk musicians have a sing-song on the last Monday of every month.
