Opposite the village church, this South Hams pub has many seafaring connections, being only two miles from Dartmouth. Although there has been a building on this site since the 12th century, the first recorded landlord took charge in 1607. The interior is decorated in a seafaring theme with charts and sailing pictures. Local beers such as Otter and Exmoor slake the thirst of walkers, whilst the great-value menu can satisfy the largest of appetites with hearty baguettes, wild boar terrine; venison burgers; trawlerman’s fish pie; Thai green curry or a West Country sirloin steak.
