Church stonemasons lived here in the 15th century, and later it was taken over by fishermen and their families. The inn is close to the beautiful Erme estuary and the popular surfing beaches of the South Hams. Teignworthy Spring Tide is one of several real ales, alongside Thatchers cider. Home-made food includes chicken liver parfait with red onion jam; devilled crab tartlet with bay leaf salad; trio of sausages, mash and onion gravy; twice-baked cheese soufflé with creamed spinach; and pineapple tarte Tatin with rum raisin ice cream. A circular walk from the pub takes in woodland, the estuary and the South West Coastal Path.
