Set within the glorious Dartmoor National Park, this blue-washed pub has an artistic bent with regular exhibitions of new artists and also life drawing classes. Close links with neighbouring farms means a steady supply of quality local meat and the kitchen adopts a nose-to-tail philosophy. A typical meal might start with roast ox heart, white anchovies, capers and aïoli before moving on to venison ragù with linguine, wild mushrooms and watercress. If fish is your thing, try the Brixham hake fillet with Jerusalem artichokes, fondant potato and saffron. Wash it down with a pint of Dartmoor Legend.
