Alan and Susie Carter have been at the helm for a numbers of years and the pub has become the hub of this idyllic Devon village. A traditional free house with exposed beams and log fire, it has a reputation for serving quality food using local ingredients, and is known for generous portions of classics like game pie and local steaks, as well as curries, sharing platters and fish dishes. Up to 14 well-kept local ales include Otter Amber, and there is a fine selection of wines. A beer and music festival is held in July. A large beer garden and alfresco dining area complete the picture.
