Full of charm and character, the 150-year-old Dragon sits in the heart of the village, beside the Trent & Mersey Canal. The pub has been sympathetically extended, renovated and restored. A new 70-seater restaurant complementing the fine beer garden, courtyard and bar make it a popular destination for drinkers, diners, walkers and boaters. Classic and contemporary dishes are served all day, with booking advised in the evening and at weekends. Look out for the English salami starter, followed perhaps with a grilled Barnsley chop. There’s a beer festival in August, plus themed evenings and community events.
