Set in an estate village amidst the rolling parkland that surrounds Chatsworth House, the ‘Palace of The Peaks’, this fabulous old stone pub is an ideal base for visiting Matlock Bath and Castleton. There are open fires, Peak Ales from the estate’s brewery and meats, game and greens from the adjacent estate farm shop, all sourced from these productive acres at the heart of the Peak District. After a day’s exploration, tuck into chicken liver pâté, Chatsworth Farm Shop chutney and melba toast; braised lamb Henry, mint mash, pea and caper sauce; and sticky toffee pudding, toffee sauce and salted caramel ice cream then stay over in the luxurious accommodation designed by the Duchess of Devonshire.
