The Fox and Hounds

At a glance

Bar menu

Free Wi-Fi

At the heart of beautiful Teesdale and just a stone’s throw from the river’s wooded gorge, The Fox and Hounds is huddled above one of the village greens in pretty Cotherstone. Beams, open fires and thickly cushioned wall seats tempt you to linger at this 360-year-old coaching inn, admiring the local photographs and country pictures while you sip a pint of Black Sheep Best Bitter or Symonds cider. From the menu, tuck into dishes made from the best of fresh, local ingredients: cheese-filled chicken baked in creamy leek sauce; gammon steak, sausage, black pudding with fried egg and chips; or pan-fried lamb's liver and gravy, for example.
