Prettily perched on the village green, this inn’s smart restaurant and terrace are lovely places to eat, as is the homely bar where you can sup a pint of Black Sheep or Cocker Hoop. With superb local produce on the doorstep, the seasonally changing menus offer the likes of French brie tartlet; or sea trout and leek terrine, then roast butternut squash risotto and goats' cheese fritter; or home-made steak and ale shortcrust pastry pie with stock gravy and garden peas.
