Set in a former schoolhouse, this Grade II listed pub is decorated with original photographs of the building and its pupils. It prides itself on offering high quality, simple meals made with local produce, particularly seafood. Look out for starters like salt and pepper chilli squid; crab, langoustine and spring onion thermidor; or smoked haddock risotto. In the mains you could find roast rack of spring lamb with a leek and potato cake and rosemary gravy; or pan-fried wild turbot fillet on tiger prawn, pancetta and wild garlic risotto. Puddings are a pleasure, and afterwards, the historic Winston Bridge and beautiful views to the church are a short stroll away.
