Rachel and Peter Walton arrived at 'The Hammers', as its regulars call it, in February 2016. For a light starter there's Caesar salad, or the slightly more substantial pan-fried chorizo, red wine and honey. Home-made pie of the day comes with hand-cut chips and peas, as does battered cod but with tartare sauce too. The Blacksmiths burger is always a good bet. Speciality dishes include chicken breast stuffed with brie wrapped in Parma ham, dauphinoise potatoes and creamy herb sauce; pan-fried sea bass on a warm salad of chorizo, cherry tomatoes, green beans and new potatoes; and leek and mushroom risotto with crème fraîche, parmesan and dressed rocket.
