Set above the valley of the River Inny in the pretty hamlet of Treburley, a few miles south of Launceston, this 18th-century pub is dedicated to serving top-notch ales, ciders and food. Choosing from the menu of pub classics and specials may be a struggle, although a pleasant one. A robust start could be Cornish mackerel, creme fraîche, cucumber and dill. Follow with cocoa venison with roast baby parsnip, braised venison dumpling and kale. Dessert selections may include Muscovado parfait walnut cake and caramelised figs. A tree-shaded garden to the rear is a pleasant place to relax with a pint of Aspall cider or Dartmoor Jail Ale.
