Found in a quiet village midway between the bustling towns of Liskeard and Looe, Jeremy and Naomi Cooper’s pub is set deep in the Cornish countryside. It’s also home to the Cornish Orchards Company, so no surprise to find its Gold ciders on tap alongside St Austell ales in The Plough’s bar. The kitchen’s use of local produce extends when possible to the menus. A starter of Cornish crab rarebit, for example, might be followed by slow-cooked belly of pork, cider sauce, smoked bacon, cavolo nero and roasted garlic mash. Finish with Belgian chocolate pot and Trewithen clotted cream.
