Glimpses of Mount's Bay reward drinkers taking the sun on the terrace at this stone-built village inn on a hillside outside Penzance. With a wood-burner pumping out the heat, the interior is cosy, yet contemporary and welcoming. Tom and Holly Franklin-Pryce took over here in 2015 and augmented the great range of real ales, concentrating on beers from the south-west. The menus are similarly provincial; start with blow-torched squid with rock samphire, or straight in to mains of Newlyn hake with lobster bisque; or gnocchi with porcini and Bath Blue cheese. September sees a beer festival here.
