It’s still fine to arrive by horse at this inviting, 18th-century moorland inn – there’s a hitching post in the car park. On horseback could be the best way home, too, given the real ales from the village’s Penpont brewery, Skinner’s Betty Stogs, and also Cornish Orchards and Skinner's Press Gang ciders. Lunch and dinner dishes include all kinds, from bangers and mash to lobster (in season). The specials board changes daily, but always focuses on seasonal and locally sourced produce. Home of the original ‘Boxeater’ steak.
