Huddled in the shadow of the craggy Windgather Rocks in the Cheshire Peak District, the Swan is a glorious 15th-century village inn. The dining room offers an eclectic and international menu which has interesting dishes such as a starter of Spanish-style pork belly with chilli honey and cannellini beans; and an extensive seafood menu including hake supreme on garlic mash; and shellfish linguine accompanied by a tomato and red pepper sauce, samphire and courgettes. Local craft ales such as Thornbridge keep ramblers and locals very contented.
