Huddled in the shadow of the craggy Windgather Rocks in the Cheshire Peak District, the Swan is a glorious 15th-century village inn. The dining room offers an eclectic and international menu which has interesting dishes such as treacle-cured roasted goose breast, caramelised shallots and apple in red onion jam; and an extensive seafood menu including cod supreme and saffron risotto; and Chinese-style sea bream baked with garlic, ginger, soy and chilli. Local craft ales such as Thornbridge keep ramblers and locals very contented.
