This gabled inn commands a position near the crest of the long hill rising from Llandeilo’s old bridge across the Towy, at the fringe of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Popular as both a locals' pub, with some reliable Welsh real ales and a good range of wines, and as an intimate place to dine in Y Capel Bach Bistro, an 18th-century gem tucked away at the rear of the hotel. Most diets are catered for on the ever-changing specials board and fixed price menu; perhaps farmhouse pâté with Welsh plum chutney; pork steak with cracked pepper cream; and slow roast beef in rich gravy.
