This 18th-century building stands in a fenland village between Ely and Newmarket. While enjoying a pint of Adnams or glass of wine, choose between the dishes of good English fare on the two AA-Rosette menu. Cooking is taken seriously here, with quality, presentation and flavour taking top priority; specials change daily. Starters may include haddock soup, smoked haddock fishcake, egg yolk purée and charred leek; confit duck terrine with fig chutney and pickles; or pork bon bon, braised cheek, celeriac and burnt apple. Followed by beef Wellington, horseradish, wild mushroom, snails and parsley; plaice, truffle gnocchi, roasted squash and brown shrimps. Desserts will prove to be very tempting too – spiced orange pannacotta; or millionniare's shortbread. If you fancy something less sweet then the British cheese selection will fit the bill.
