Quintessential English pub by village green

At a glance

Bar menu
Open all year

One of the oldest thatched and timbered pubs in England, this rambling 16th-century building overlooks a 30-acre village green. With a pretty 'chocolate-box' image on the outside, the smart interior is contemporary in design; the menu lists the classic dishes for which the pub has long been known, such as pie of the day, toad-in-the-hole, beer battered haddock, and aubergine parmigana. In addition there’s a regularly changing specials menu, a collection of salads and sandwiches, and a choice of rotating guest ales.
