Dating from the 16th century and called 'Marlow's little secret’, this is a pretty collection of buildings from three different periods. Standing opposite the manor house, its beamed, open fire-warmed interior feels immediately welcoming. Since it's just a tankard's throw from the Marlow Rebellion Brewery, expect IPA and from November to January, Roasted Nuts (surely the only real ale named after a bar snack). Starters include smoked haddock hash cake; or chicken croquettes and poached pear. Continue to mains like creamy pea risotto with poached egg; or stuffed chicken, rolled in sesame, crushed potatoes, watercress and spinach sauce. Save space for charred pineapple, mango compôte and pineapple granita for afters.
