Atmospheric pub offering a modern menu with international influences

At a glance

AA Pick of the Pubs
Bar menu
Open all year

This thatched and whitewashed listed pub sits in the picturesque village of Cuddington. The Crown’s atmospheric interior includes a locals’ bar and several low-beamed dining areas lit by candles in the evening. Fuller’s London Pride, Adnams and guest ales are on tap, and there’s also an extensive wine list, with 12 by the glass. The well thought-out, modern menu might include starters of poached salmon with fennel salad, lemon and black pepper dressing; or roasted red pepper and coriander houmous with toasted date and walnut bread, followed by mains such as beef and ale stew with herb dumplings; aubergine, mozzarella, tomato and basil bake; burger, chips and salad; or braised shoulder of lamb with boulanger potatoes and mulled red wine jus. Look to the blackboard for daily specials or the set menu for good value options. A compact patio area provides outside seating.
