A thatched former farmhouse dating back to 1600, The Crooked Billet is located just south west of Milton Keynes. With log fires in winter and a large garden for warmer months, landlords David Pugh and Alan Ayres have retained the family pub feel for drinkers who can enjoy glasses of Abbot Ale or one of the 17 wines served by the glass. A bar menu offering sandwiches, steaks, burgers and home-made pies runs alongside the à la carte that might include corn-fed chicken, Lyonnaise potatoes, ratatouille and basil pesto. Time a visit for the Early May Bank Holiday beer festival.
