Firmly at the heart of Clifton Village life, this handsome Grade II listed coaching inn dates from the 17th century. A popular place to enjoy St Austell Brewery ales and Thatchers ciders, you can order jugs of Pimm’s in summer or sip mulled cider under heaters in the enclosed courtyard in the winter. The modern British cooking uses local produce in dishes such as mushroom and leek pie, seasonal veg and crushed new potatoes; whole roast sea bass, sautéed new potatoes and garlic butter; and sticky toffee pudding, butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.
