Thought to be one of the most haunted pubs in Wales, this 16th-century stone-built free house was formerly the seat of local government for the lost city of Kenfig. Just as remarkably, it is also the only pub in Britain to have held a Sunday school continuously from 1857 to 2000. Welsh brunch; liver and onion casserole; poached cod in cream and tarragon sauce; and beef and Welsh ale pie are amongst the local dishes on the menu, and the daily blackboard specials are also worth attention. A list of suppliers is available for those wishing to check the provenance of the ingredients. HRH The Prince of Wales visited his namesake pub some years ago, which is part of his The Pub is the Hub organisation, and enjoyed half a pint.
