Like its sister pub, The Three Oaks at Gerrards Cross, this contemporary village inn and restaurant has been run with huge success by former London restaurateurs Henry and Katherine Cripps for the past decade. Diners at The White Oak can tuck into award-winning, daily changing, modern British dishes, so perhaps start with dressed Devonshire crab, sourdough toast and mustard cress; or game and apple terrine, blackberry and apple chutney; then pan-roast halibut, poached lobster, lobster bisque and braised celery or roast partridge, rainbow chard and chilli polenta. To finish, perhaps creamed rice; caramelised pear and ginger crumble; or marmalade and vanilla cheesecake with vanilla ice cream.
