A charming, traditional building dating back to the 16th-century. Absolutely everything on the menu, from stocks and sauces to the desserts, is made from scratch. Meats come from an award-winning butcher and game-supplier down the road. On the main menu, cod and chips; duck breast; and stuffed mushroom. Look to the specials board for constantly changing dishes such as piri piri pork with sweet potato mash and mango and coriander salsa; roasted monkfish wrapped in Parma ham with chorizo risotto; and minted lamb steak, dauphinoise potatoes with red wine jus. Arrive on the last weekend in June for the annual beer festival.
