This lovely 17th-century pub was bought by a group of villagers a few years ago and hasn’t looked back; the stylish interior has retained exposed timbers and an open fireplace. The large family garden and sheltered courtyard are a draw during the warmer months, or you could head to the cosy bar to a enjoy pint of Rebellion, just one of four local ales served. The seasonally-driven menu champions local produce: asparagus, mushroom and baby carrot roulade might be followed by home-made fisherman’s pie; or pan-fried calves’ liver, colcannon mash and onion gravy. Desserts include lemon cheesecake; and vanilla crème brûlée.
