A white-painted, brick-built country pub dating back to the early 19th century, The Cricketers has been thoughtfully refurbished and extended. There’s a patio for outdoor dining in the summer, and a large beer garden (say hello to resident ducks, Cheese and Quackers, if you see them). Family friendly, the pub also welcomes dogs in the bar and garden – canine visitors are welcome to a free dog treat in the porch. The dining room has stripped floor boards and panelling, with comfortable mismatched furniture, and menus feature pub classics like beer battered haddock with chunky chips and mushy peas, while other choices might include braised rabbit, leg, chorizo and Toulouse sausage cassoulet.
