A delightful 16th-century pub with smart, modern interior decor. A number of guest ales are very well kept, and make a delightful companion to almost anything on the menu. Dig into sharing deli boards or sandwiches, baguettes and paninis with fillings such as prawn and avocado, or topside of beef. Or how about mains such as seared sea trout fillet, Lyonnaise potatoes, wilted spinach and sorrel cream; or calves’ liver and bacon, bubble-and-squeak and onion gravy? The garden has plenty of tables for alfresco eating, and a children’s play area.
