This peaceful 15th-century country pub has been in the same safe hands for over a quarter of a century. No games machines, pool tables or jukeboxes disturb the simple pleasures of well-kept ales and great home-made food. The menu offers pub stalwarts like ploughman’s; home-made steak and ale pie; chicken curry and rice; chilli con carne and a variety of grilled steaks; and a blackboard displays further choice plus the vegetarian options. For a lighter meal try the home-made chicken liver pâté or soup, garlic mushrooms on toast, or plain or toasted sandwiches.
