Cuan Mor means 'big ocean', clearly a reference to the Atlantic, which stretches a finger called the Firth of Lorn towards Oban. Restaurant and bars make effective use of reclaimed Ballachulish slate and timbers from the old lighthouse pier. There is a constantly changing selection of Scottish real ales, 16 wines by the glass, and a hundred or so single malts and special blends – read the Brewery Bar's Whisky Bible for guidance. As you overlook Oban Bay enjoy Isle of Mull scallops, creamy mash with black pudding, cheddar and chive sauce; or braised Moroccan-style lamb, chickpeas, tomato and sweet potato mash.
