What does Brexit mean for AA customers?

Under the Withdrawal Agreement Act, the UK left the EU on 31 January 2020, with a transition period until 31 December 2020. During the transition period there were no changes to your banking services.

For most customers there won't be any change to our products or services after the Brexit transition period ends.

You can find below FAQs to help with your AA loans, savings and credit cards.

Due to the rules that govern how customers can access bank accounts and services in the European Economic Area (EEA), a small number of customers living in the EEA may no longer be able to access banking services from Bank of Ireland UK.

We're now contacting those customers and advising them of any actions they need to take. If you don't hear from us directly there's no need to take any action on this matter.

What does Brexit mean for AA Savings customers?

From 1 January 2021, depending on the trade negotiations between the UK and EU, there could be changes to some of the services we provide to our customers.

We'll tell you if any changes affect our banking services.

Loans

I'm an EU citizen living in the UK. Can I apply for an AA personal loan?

If you've been a UK resident for at least 3 years then you're eligible to apply for an AA personal loan.

Credit cards

Can I continue to make payments from other countries in the EU?

Yes. All of our ways to pay will still be available from 1 January 2021.

Can I still use my credit card in EU countries?

Yes. You can continue to use your credit card in EU and non-EU countries.

Will I be charged new fees for spending in the EU?

We're not introducing new fees from 1 January 2021, but any existing fees which are charged when you spend abroad will still apply.
