VW sales give firm eighth straight rise

Volkswagen (VW) recorded its vehicle registrations total for the year and it has once again beaten records, the German automobile manufacturer has revealed.

The company commented that it sold some 27,777 commercial vehicles and its market share went up by more than eight per cent.

Robert Hazelwood, director of commercial vehicles for the company, commented that the results are "fantastic".

Figures from VW show that 15,069 sales were recorded in 1999, compared with 15,069 in 2007.

Mr Hazelwood added: "In a competitive market place, the quality, comfort and competitive whole life costs of Volkswagen vans make them more desirable than ever."

The official also stated that the firm is hoping to make 2008 even more of a success.

VW was formed in 1937 by the German Auto Association.

Its corporate headquarters can be found in Wolksburg, Germany and overall the firm employs approximately 324,900 staff.
