Motorists should head to Europe for first drive of Volkswagen Golf Estate

Although the new Volkswagen Golf Estate is not expected to appear on UK roads until next year, motorists looking to sample the vehicle prior to then are to be able to do so across Europe.

The sixth generation Golf is set to hit European markets from September and features many of the same changes that motorists can look forward to witnessing in the UK.

Changes have been made to the vehicle’s appearance with a new bold headlight styling being one of the noticeable developments.

Meanwhile, there is a dedication towards ensuring that the vehicle’s occupants remain as safe as possible through the inclusion of ABS brakes, six airbags and whiplash-optimised head restraints.

Furthermore, motorists will have the choice of four petrol engines or one of two diesel units, with a BlueMotion version on offer for those concerned about their carbon footprint.

Volkswagen has revealed that the Golf Estate also retains the famous drive and handling of a more typical model, despite the extra space offered to motorists.

In addition, the car is described as being "exciting" and "practical", offering 1,550 litres of luggage space.
