Special edition Fabia launched

Skoda has announced the launch of a new, special edition Fabia vRS, saying that the release is timed to "celebrate the fourth and final year of one of the UK’s best-loved diesel pocket rockets".

The manufacturer has produced 1,000 models, which feature individually numbered black leather seats, red callipers and race blue metallic paint.

Additionally, the special edition car will boast cruise control, ‘sunset’ glass and a six-disc CD changer.

Under the bonnet will be a 1.9 TDI engine, offering 130bhp and enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0-62mph in 9.5 seconds.

The new Fabia’s overall top speed will be 128mph and the car will also be capable of running for over 64 miles per gallon.

This year will see the Fabia vRS, which Skoda describes as a "frugal yet feisty favourite", phased out in the UK, following nearly 11,000 sales since its launch in 2003.

Prices for the new limited edition model will start at £12,990, which the automaker says is good value in comparison to similar models and also in consideration of the range of equipment that comes as standard with the car.
