Second-generation Porsche Boxster to be unveiled

The second generation of the mid-engined Boxster roadster will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show which runs from November 21st – 30th.

According to the company, the car will place a heavy emphasis on "sports performance, lightweight construction, agility and pure driving pleasure", just as the first Porsche sports car did 60 years ago.

One of the unique selling points of the new generation will be the flat-six ‘boxer’ engines, which promise to give more power and greater fuel efficiency.

Speed freaks will be glad to know that the Boxster accelerates from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.9 seconds.

Still not quick enough? The Boxster S, when augmented with PDK transmission and Launch Control, moves from 0-62mph in five seconds flat.

The latest models will be easily-recognisable thanks to their newly-designed nose and tail. Updated halogen headlights have more than a passing resemblance to the lights on the Carrera GT, while rectangular fog lamps are featured as standard.

The new car is sure to be a big hit with used Porsche dealers.
