Qashqai gets record NCap test score

The Nissan Qashqai has been given a five-star rating for adult occupant protection in the Euro NCap safety test and received the highest ever recorded score for any vehicle in the process.

A total of 36.83 points from a possible 37 were awarded to the crossover SUV vehicle for adult protection.

It received almost full scores in the front and side impact tests, which are known to be strict in their assessment, and a maximum score for seatbelt reminders.

The Qashqai was also given a four-star rating for child protection, a rigorously monitored category in which no small family vehicle has received a maximum five-star assessment.

Brian Carolin, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at Nissan Europe, said: "Qashqai is a dynamic-looking compact crossover that offers the best attributes of a traditional family hatchback with the ability and practicality of a 4×4.

"Today I am pleased to announce that Qashqai is also among the safest vehicles on the road."

Nissan’s new model, which was launched in Europe earlier this year, has started strongly, with nearly 60,000 orders already placed and sales totalling 23,551 units by the end of April.
