It is not just Manchester United and Chelsea fans that will descend on Russia, as Mitsubishi motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen have also struck a new deal which will see the production of cars at a manufacturing plant in Kaluga, 180km south-west of Moscow, from 2011.
The new Russian plant will produce vehicles with the Peugeot, Mitsubishi and Citroen marques.
The formal foundation stone laying will take place on June 10th for the factory which will have a capacity of 160,000 vehicles.
It is planned to move production of mid-range SUVs for Mitsubishi, Peugeot and Citroen brands as well as medium size Peugeot and Citroen vehicles. Mid-range vehicles represent 50 per cent of sales in Russia with SUVs corresponding to one of the most buoyant segments within the Russian car market.
