Skoda announce new Skoda Rapid

Czech car manufacturer, Skoda, have released pictures of its new compact saloon, the Rapid. The announcement builds on the recent introduction of their subcompact, the Citigo, and provides the Skoda portfolio with a vehicle to sit between their Fabia city runabout and Octavia saloon.

According to Skoda, the Rapid is ‘roomy, expressively designed, has an excellent price-value ratio, a comprehensive safety offering and an efficient engine.’ Skoda CEO Winfried Vahland, championed:

“This is a model which sets benchmarks in the compact saloon segment: The Skoda Rapid is a roomy, elegant and at the same time an affordable car for the whole family, impressing with clever solutions, cutting-edge technology and high economy.”

Taking on cars in its class like Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus, it is expected that the Rapid will compete strongly on price. The new four door, five seat offering is almost 4.5 metres long and 1.7 metres wide. Five petrol and two diesel engines will be on offer.

The Skoda Rapid will be on public display for the first time at the Paris Auto Salon (September 29-October 14) and hit European markets shortly after.

  1. It’s would have been crazy to think that Skoda were competing with all those big names just 20 years ago, look how far they have come! For some reason all the private cab drivers in my area love these cars and I am sure a fair few will be upgrading to this beauty
