1959 Mini to fetch £15,000!

A 1959 Austin Mini Se7en De Luxe, said by auctioneers Bonhams to be the eighth to roll off the Longbridge production line, could fetch as much at £15,000 when auction later this month.

The car has been kept in a garage of David Gallimore since 1986 until last year, has just 30,041 miles on the clock and the 848cc engine is said never to have been repaired.

Farina grey paint lies beneath the car’s rust. The car has the original registration plate and even the original glass washer bottle isstill in use – only the driver’s door has been replaced.

John Polson from Bonhams confirmed: “The Mini is one of the most important cars of the 20th century. They have always been collectable. Some collectors would want to return her to new, but others would just like to get her going again and keep her in the original condition.”
