Many MOT Virgins ‘could come of age in 2009’

KwikFit has predicted that many MOT ‘virgins’ could come of age in 2009.

It is surprising in this day and age that there are so many MOT virgins among us – KwikFit research has suggested that there are two million motorists who have never had a car long enough to experience undergoing an MOT.

There are another one million drivers who haven’t submitted a car for an MOT in over a decade.

Used car dealers will be aware that some Brits rarely own a car for more than three years – the legal limit you can have a car without it having to be subjected to an MOT.

But KwikFit believe that the credit crunch will mean that people will have to keep their cars for longer, meaning that 2009 could see a reduction in the number of MOT virgins.

David White, customer services director at Kwik-Fit, promises that his staff will be gentle with MOT first-timers.

"An MOT is only £20 when booked with our credit crunch beating full vehicle service,” he commented.
