More Ford cars go digital

Ford has announced that three more of its models are to be fitted with Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) radio and USB ports to plug in audio sources such as iPods.

The Ford Focus, C-Max and Kuga ranges have already had the features fitted earlier this year. Now it’s the turn of the Ford Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy ranges.

The news will make it even easier for dealers to talk up the style of used Ford cars in the near future.

A USB port will enable drivers to listen to their choice of music or other audio files stored on memory sticks, MP3 players or mobile phones.

Motorists will be able to browse audio files via the centre screen and on the display using the car’s steering wheel-mounted controls.

Certain key functions, such as track number selection, can even be operated using the voice control feature.

A special connector (available from Ford dealers) will allow Apple iPod players to be linked to the main audio system controls.
