Ford reveals how Darling’s VAT cut will affect their prices

Ford has announced that it will pass on the full benefit of Chancellor Alistair Darling’s 2.5 per cent VAT cut – and spelled out how this will affect the price tag of certain cars.

The VAT cut applies from December 1st and will mean useful savings for people buying new Ford cars from this date. Used Ford dealers could well see a knock-on effect a few years’ down the line, with even more quality Ford cars likely to appear in their forecourts.

Roelant de Waard, chairman and managing director, Ford Motor Company Limited, said: "We are pleased that the government has taken such decisive action, and we hope the tax reduction will encourage more customers to visit their local Ford dealership."

Consumers who get the keys to the all-new Fiesta, will be roughly £200 better off thanks to the generosity of Ford and Darling.

There are even greater savings to be made on a £15,000 Ford Focus; people who purchase this ever-popular vehicle will now have an extra £350 to play around with.

And opportunists who snap up a Ford Mondeo, S-MAX or Galaxy will all be quids-in to the tune of £500.
