Ford celebrates security award

Ford has celebrated the success of its S-Max at the British Insurance Car Security Awards.

The S-Max, which has also been named European car of the year for 2007, was recognised for its security in the large MPV category, while the Ford Galaxy was runner up.

Among the factors considered by the awards, which are backed by the Department for Transport, are vehicles’ resistance to theft and break-ins.

Steve Adams, Ford’s vehicle line director for large and luxury cars, said: "We consider security to be of paramount importance and we are thrilled that the S-Max and Galaxy have won the top two positions of this prestigious accolade.

"This award is testament to the great effort and dedication of our security engineers, but the real winners are our customers."

The S-Max has a number of standard security features, including Thatcham category one alarms, remote-control deadlocks, an engine immobiliser and visible vehicle identification numbers.
