All-new Ford Fiesta named Car of the Year

The all-new Ford Fiesta has been named Car of the Year at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2009.

The cars are the stars at these motoring ‘Oscars’ and no car is a bigger star than the all-new Fiesta, which promises to retain much of its value on the used Fiesta market.

What Car? editor Steve Fowler said: "The Fiesta is the right car at the right time – small in size, but big on ability. We love the way it looks and the way it drives, but it also stacks up as a shrewd buy, offering space and quality, while being affordable to buy and run."

Having received the Car of the Year honour, it only made sense that the Fiesta also collected the prize for best supermini.

It was a good night for Ford at the Grovesnor Hotel evening as the Ford Mondeo was voted best family car and best estate car.

Sadly, Gordon Brown, Tory leader David Cameron, and Nick Clegg of the Liberal Democrats couldn’t attend the event but they did send taped messages of support for the car industry.
