A study has been carried out on the most iconic contemporary cars and has found the Ferrari Enzo to be the number one choice among experts.
Insurance provider Zurich carried out an investigation using a panel of motoring experts and named the Enzo as the most iconic vehicle on the basis of its performance, exclusivity, brand heritage and style.
The Ferrari brand turned out to be a strong factor in the panel’s decisions, as the Italian automaker’s F599 was voted in third place and the 612 Scaglietti came in seventh.
Also appearing in the list were the Porsche Carrera GT, the Aston Martin Vanquish S and the Mercedes-Benz SLR, while the most expensive car was the Bugatti Veyron, which retails at a whopping £840,000.
The least pricey vehicles on the list were the Bentley Continental, a bargain at £115,000, and the Ferrari F599 at £157,000.
Nick Brabham of Zurich commented: "The Zurich iconic car index provides a fascinating insight into what the world’s most affluent people may consider buying if they’re after the ultimate drive.
"The panel of independent motoring experts we spoke to concluded that a model from the Ferrari family is the best that we should aspire to own, with three places in the top ten."
