Car of the Week: Citroën C3

With effortless supermini styling and the quality that you’d expect from a Citroën, the C3 is certainly making waves in the UK. To help you assess whether the 2014 version of the Citroën C3 is right for you, we’ve selected it as our “Car of the Week”.

With a great choice of engines on offer, the Citroën C3 has something for everyone. The petrol range includes a 1.1-litre engine, the 1.2 litre featured here, a nippy 1.4 litre and an even faster 1.6 litre. In the diesel range, there are a further three options, a 67bhp 1.4 and 1.6s with either 89bhp or110bhp option.

The ride and handling of the C3 are arguably its best features.  With its soft suspension the car copes well with any pothole or bump making it one of the most comfortable superminis on the market. As for the steering, it is responsive and nimble, meaning that the car reacts positively when you need it to. Admittedly, the gearshift is a little slow, but with the top end engines, that isn’t too much of an issue.

Inside, the dashboard is stylish and the quality of the interior is clear to see. The C3 is  refined with very little road noise evident in the cabin, even on the motorway. The five doors provide plenty of access to the roomy rear seats, putting the C3 top of the list as one of the most spacious and comfortable small cars on offer.

If space is your primary concern, then the C3 won’t let you down,  the boot is a more than ample size and boasts a 300 litre load space.

This particular VTR+ model, finished in grey and with only 10 miles on the clock, comes complete with a number of gadgets and gizmos.  These include cruise control, Bluetooth with USB box, a speed limiter, steering wheel mounted audio controls, chrome door handles and electric front windows.  The car really looks smart, practical and ready for the road.
