Car of the Week: 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4

Part of the ‘new breed of Lamborghinis’, the 2011 Gallardo is a stunning refresh of the previous model which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2008.

Powered by a 5.2 litre V10 engine that produces 560 bhp, the Gallardo is every inch the stunning supercar that it appears to be, and every single design aspect and technical element has been considered to create what is widely appreciated as one of the world’s greatest supercars. The engine, according to Top Gear, is ‘a proper bobby-dazzler’.

As well as being a complete brut under the bonnet, Lamborghini’s “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” fuel injection system both improves fuel efficiency and lessens the CO2 emissions, with the car producing 18% less CO2 than older models despite a marked increase in its performance levels.

With the Gallardo, it feels as though every single angle has been covered. Alongside its larger engine with increased bhp output and lower CO2 emissions, the E-Gear model contains a Corsa mode which makes gear changes 40% quicker. Not quick enough for you? Lamborghini also added a launch control system and lightened the car. The results are outstanding, with the car doing 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.7 seconds. It doesn’t take much longer for the Lambo to reach its top speed either, with the Gallardo reaching 200 km/h in only 11.8 seconds. If you keep your foot to the floor, it won’t even take you much longer to reach the 202 mph top speed.

This automatic, coupe, petrol version has only done 2,500 miles with its one previous owner. Available in stunning Arancio Borealis (orange) with Nero Noctis roof and spoilers (black), it’s as striking as it is powerful.

The interior also contains as much detail as you’d expect from such a prestigious car manufacturer, with the black leather trim being stitched with orange.

As well as all this power and precision, the car also contains a number of features including a reversing camera, satellite navigation, front axle lifting system, 19 15 spoke Skorplus alloy wheels in graphite finish, black brake calipers, pearlescent paintwork, and a transparent engine cover.
